They abandoned an obese, immobile Chihuahua on the sidewalk inside a box.

For all the abandoned puppies , it’s hard to survive on the streets where many times they don’t know what to do to feed themselves, now imagine a completely disabled puppy and disoriented locked in an abandoned box in the middle of the road.

This is exactly what happened to a helpless little dog that was rescued by the roadside in New Jersey.

This is an overweight 8-year-old Chihuahua.

The puppy was rescued by animal rescue officials along 80th Street in Paterson, the puppy later named Stanley weighed about 20 pounds , more than twice the size of the average Chihuahua.

Without wasting any more time, the rescuers moved to the Ramapo-Berge Animal Shelter . Megan Brinster is the hideout’s executive director, on the matter she commented:

It must weigh 3 to 4 kg, at most five kg. So for him, he has about half the weight to lose.”

Due to obesity, young Stanley could not walk, he had to crawl to try to move, which caused his legs to be completely deformed .

While Brinster doesn’t rule out that his leg problem preceded his obesity, it got worse as he gained more and more weight.

The skin on her belly had some lacerations.

Although his caregivers were unaware of Stanley’s past , they couldn’t imagine how someone could leave him in such a state defenseless. Because of this, the shelter’s director commented:

Unfortunately, I think people can only do things with animals that you don’t want. We hope that once you lose weight, you gain mobility.”

Fortunately, he is now in a safe place and they have found a foster home for him. His new family is ready to help him through this long-term transformation that has just begun. with Stanley.

Thanks to all the rescue team and her foster mom, she has managed to lose a few kilos.

The Ramapo-Bergen Animal Shelter is committed to being a part of this change, to help him they are working hard to raise money, they hope to get him a custom canine wheelchair that will help support his hind legs and can move without rubbing your stomach on the floor.

It is very difficult for its caregivers to imagine everything the defenseless little dog went through:

His story is hard to tell and even harder to imagine. Stanley lives today, but our minds can’t help but wander to the past he’s had.

In our desperate moments, we imagine Stanley stuck on the side of the road , watching the cars go by, scared, confused, waiting for his people to come back.”

Stanley now enjoys this new stage, little by little he has revealed great changes stirring the hearts of joy of those who wish him the best.

There is much to thank his rescuers and foster family for giving him this second chance. The journey will be long but you have wonderful beings by your side.

Obesity affects the mobility of puppies and has fatal consequences for their health. Please, let’s be aware when feeding them and help them to have a happy and playful life. Go ahead and share this emotional story in your networks.
