This puppy was intentionally left outside in the cold during a snowfall.

Blizzard (“Ventisca”, “blizzard”, in Spanish) is a two-year-old dog from Detroit, Michigan. She got this name because she was saved in a snowstorm in which she nearly lost her life, but thanks to a neighbor she was saved.

The Blizzard owner’s neighbor saw her while she was tied up outside her house overnight during a blizzard, so he immediately called Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue, an organization that rescues dogs. Injured or sick stray dogs.

One of the members of the Detroit Pit Dog Rescue Team commented that when he received the call, he could appreciate the man’s concern for the poor dog as it had been outside for a while. long time and doesn’t look good.

Theresa said: ‘If we hadn’t come to help this little dog, this concerned resident feared he would di‌e.

It’s important to note that it’s illegal for owners to keep Blizzards outside the house , since last February a law was passed in the state of Detroit that doesn’t allow pets to be tied up more than three hours.

The organization’s volunteers, knowing that the immediate rescue of this dog was of utmost importance, arrived as soon as possible. Theresa Sumpter, director and organizer of the rescue as‌sociation, commented on the dog:

“We knew it was sweet when we picked it up. She was licking my helper.”

For their part, the owners of Blizzard refused to talk to the volunteers , even to be able to rescue the dog, it was the neighbor who made the call, who had to enter the house of the pet owners to be able to convince them that they let Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue take the little girl away.

The most incredible thing for those in charge of saving Blizzard was when the door of the house opened and they could see the other pet of the family , a dog that was allowed to stay in the warm and cozy interior of the house while the another little dog was relegated to the frozen outside world.

«The owner no longer wanted the dog that was outside and they were going to leave her there. So I went ahead and said, ‘Yeah, we’ll take the little dog.’ She’s obviously hurt and she’s cold and she can’t go out in this weather,” Theresa commented.

The moment the dog was safely in the truck, she immediately curled up and fell asleep peacefully. After being rescued, she was taken to a veterinarian where it was observed that her paws were swollen, infected and frozen , but that although her recovery would not be easy, she was going to be complete.

She was also taken to a temporary home where she has two companions, Noelle and Cholo , who were rescued by Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue.

Theresa said: “She is very happy in her foster home and loves the other puppies.
